For over 17 years, St. Luke Respite Care Ministry has provided caregiver relief for families caring for loved ones with cognitive issues. This outreach ministry is designed for adults who can benefit from a time of socialization and stimulation while providing the family members / caregivers with a break for themselves. The program operates Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10-2 in an inviting, homelike, free standing building at 1021 Third Avenue. The staff and trained volunteers design a day filled with activities including exercise, music, active games, crafts, devotion time, and lunch.
Respite Care is open to anyone in the community. Caregivers must call and schedule a time for an assessment visit.
The St Luke Respite Care Ministry is a wonderful way for St Luke members to volunteer. There are no requirements, just a willingness to give a listening ear or helping hand to some of the most delightful people you could hope to meet. You can volunteer weekly, monthly, or whenever you are available.
