The mission of the Student Ministry program of St. Luke Church is to create an environment where students feel safe to investigate a relationship with Christ and grow in their current relationship with Him. We want to know Christ and to make Him known.
We focus on building relationships with students that are centered on Christ. We do this through a team of student workers, college leaders and adult volunteers with a common goal: To see students fall in love with Jesus. We desire to earn a platform in the life of students in order to come alongside them and help them grow closer to Christ.
Be assured that we will have more than our share of fun stuff going on. However, we are certain that if we MAJOR on Christ and His Word, He will be the basis for our growth and not activities alone.

Derek Hay
Derek was born and raised in Columbus. He grew up at St. Luke, attended CHS, and then went to Berry College for undergrad, where he studied Exercise Science and Psychology. After graduating, he moved to Atlanta to work for Delta Air Lines and then to Rome, GA, to begin his career with Young Life. Derek worked for Young Life for ten years, and some of his favorite memories of the past decade involve hanging out with his middle and high school friends. Derek is pursuing a master’s degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. The best part about Derek is his wife, Grier. Grier is a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines, and they love to travel any chance they can. Derek has been to six continents and 48 countries! Derek and Grier have two incredible daughters, Harper (3), Teale (1), and a pup named Ridley! Their entire family is excited to be back home to lead student ministry at St Luke!
